Merci d'avance! Edited March 17 by sebastien2b
EDUT Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 Hi Sebastien. I prefer to answer in English because I believe this issue is common and gives me the opportunity to provide a useful solution for many users of this type of printer. I believe you face this issue. I just wanted to share my experience regarding the recurring paper detector issue on the D700/D800 printers. During printer initialization, after several tests, the printer feeds the paper out a few inches and then retracts it. There follows a 5 to 10-second wait, after which the paper advances again (without visibly exiting) and the print head moves to detect the paper edges (and adjust the print start position in the paper width direction). This is often when the printer throws an error (error W100x, W110x, etc.) and 2 leds blink yellow.. Sometimes, the printer starts normally (especially if it hasn’t been used for several days), but other times, it doesn’t start at all. The most likely cause is the presence of ink on the ‘power sensor’ (PW sensor) located beneath the CR Unit (the print head carriage). You can fix the issue by cleaning the PW sensor, but it’s not straightforward. You need to disassemble the CR Unit. You can find the method in the Service Manual, pages 130 and onward. The manual is available (with some ads and limitations) at: https://fr.scribd.com/document/850132966/SL-D700-SL-D800series-ServiceManual-EN-J Here are photos of the power sensor under the CR Unit. Simply clean the ink without damaging the components. Note that there is often ink inside the cable connector as well. I’m sharing this experience without any warranty, at your own risk, but I was able to restore three printers (1 D700 and 2 D800s) using this method. Again, total disassembly / reassembly is complicated. Hope that helps/Good luck.
sebastien2b Posted March 24 Author Report Posted March 24 Thank you for your feedback, that’s what I initially thought—it confirms my suspicion. I’m reposting my original request in English because I made a mistake while copying and pasting. -------------------------------------------- Hello everyone, I’m experiencing an issue with my Epson D700 printer when loading paper. The paper is correctly picked up by the printer and feeds normally. Then the print head moves (apparently to perform a format check), after which the paper is ejected and an error message appears. According to the logs, it seems to be related to a paper size detection issue. I’ve included: Error log excerpts below: W-1104 / 002D → Paper incorrectly loaded (repeated several times) W-1102 / 0034 → Paper jam A short video showing the printer’s behavior: [link to video] Before continuing with disassembly, I’d like your opinion: Could this be caused by a dirty or faulty paper width sensor? Is there a sensor on the print head that should be checked first? Or could it be related to a flag-type paper presence/entry sensor? If anyone has encountered this issue on this model, I would greatly appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Thanks in advance!
