UMFS Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Good morning. We had an incident on friday and the colorimeter was not attached to the printer. The lid was lifted and it fell hard behind the printer. Now it seems it doesnt want to work im unable to do the daily set up or any emulsions. Im being told this is almost an 11K part. Has this happened to anyone? It seems as though the paper is getting stuck when it would go into the colorimeter from the dryer. The colorimeter is not accepting any paper at all. Help? im sure i can only go so long without running emulsions ect before everything is pink.,
alexvigor Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Qss32 colorimeter is standalone and attached to CS. Maybe you mean qss37? You said the problem is with feeding the paper - so it's able to perform calibration? In that case the densitometer itself is hopefully ok. And the problem might be in something broken and blocking the paper. You'll have to remove plastic cover to find out what's blocking the paper. If you get error messages - post it here UMFS 1
UMFS Posted April 28 Author Report Posted April 28 Thank you for your reply "0000-06551-00001 paper has jammed in the colorimeter unit" has been my only error code and i believe youre right about the qss37. i took it apart yesterday but wasnt able to to find any issues. ive had had tech guy run me through a bunch of different tests as well we can hear things are working, but nothing wants to come out.

The error means that paper sensor 2 doesn't turn dark - either the sensor itself stopped working and doesn't turn dark when the paper is coming or the rollers are not operating due to pulse motor failure or some other mechanical problem. Make a test: Move colorimeter a bit from the heater, take old daily setup and insert it to the intake of the colorimeter (the hole that tests go into from the heater, not the upper intake). Attach the colorimeter. Make sure the paper is in contact to the first rollers in the colorimeter (cant move any further). Go to the output check - processor - colorimeter unit. You should see Sensor 1 dark and sensor 2 light. Execute paper advance motor operation. You must see paper sensor 2 turn dark and paper move out a bit from the colorimeter. Tell us the results (if the paper is moving and sensors turn dark accordingly). Better record some video. Edited April 29 by alexvigor
UMFS Posted April 30 Author Report Posted April 30 So i found the issues so we thought. when the unit fell behind the printer a belt came off way deep inside. However. now that the paper is able to move though the unit again we keep getting a clean the calibration plate error. Ive included images of the daily set up, the daily set up numbers. The 6 gloss emulsions from this morning, the 8 matte emulsions from yesterday, the control strip with the refrence and the emulsion error we keep getting. this morning i ran the 6 gloss emulsion which the #s were not correct so it re did it. on the third go i finally got the clean calibration plate error. to which my tech and i tried to troubleshoot on tuesday however. no luck. I did try to clean it but its not working.. I know of a fix that you can do that basically sets the printers memory to do the same thing as it did a previous day however everytime it comes out its very green. Im at a loss my tech says its time for a tech to come. But we want to avoid it at all cost. I know you guys can help me fix this. thank you
alexvigor Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 (edited) Now either the densitometer is damaged and can't measure correctly or something is still wrong in the mechanical part and it can't correctly calibrate. - Clean the densitometer(you'll need to disassemble the colorimeter). The dirt or dust could move onto the glass of the densitometer's "eye", when it fell. - Check the solenoid in colorimeter (that presses the calibrationplate) is ok and operating. - Execute "Confirming the colorimeter and calibration plate data" from colorimeter calibration menu. You'll need calibration data CD that came with your calibration plate. By the way, what is the yellow&reddish test on your pictures?? Edited May 1 by alexvigor
alexvigor Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 You can follow Dave's guide from the recent thread, by the way, to check solenoid. 12 hours ago, Dave S said: If you take the covers off the colorimeter, then remove the colorimeter head, when you operate the solenoid in output check you should see a plate lift up, manually feed a print in and check it pushes the paper up enough to touch the bottom of the colorimeter mount.
UMFS Posted May 1 Author Report Posted May 1 that red orange is an emlusion we ran on 8 matte. fist it came out looking like an easter egg and then it came out like that.
