redloft Posted June 16 Report Posted June 16 Hi everyone, I have a Noritsu QSS-3501i Plus and I’m trying to understand the best workflow for two EZ Controller computers. Current setup: Noritsu QSS-3501i Plus Main EZ Controller computer in the back: EZ Controller 7.4 on Windows 10, connected to the printer Front desk / reception computer: EZ Controller 6.4 on Windows 10, without dongle At the moment, both computers are connected to the printer, and both can send print jobs The problem is that I cannot see or manage the orders from the front desk computer on the main EZ Controller computer in the back. I don’t want the front desk computer to work completely independently from the main EZ Controller. Ideally, I would like the reception computer to send the order first to the main EZ Controller in the back, so the main computer can receive it, show it in the queue, and then send it to the Noritsu printer. I’m a bit confused about how this is supposed to work with EZ Controller / Net Order Connector / shared folders / hot folders. Is there a correct way to set this up? For example: Can one EZ Controller act as the main queue/server for another EZ Controller computer? Should the front desk computer send orders through Net Order Connector to the main EZ Controller? Is there a shared folder or hot folder workflow for this? Or does each EZ Controller always need to connect directly to the printer? Is the dongle required on the front desk computer if it is only used to create/send orders to the main EZ Controller? My goal is simple: the front desk computer sends the job, but the main EZ Controller in the back receives it first, shows it in the order list/queue, and then sends it to the Noritsu printer. Sorry if this is a basic question, I’m still trying to understand the correct workflow. Thanks!
Minilab service Posted June 16 Report Posted June 16 Your questions are not basic. You can connect few Ez controllers to one minilab. Then orders sent from both computers. Do not see what are printed on other computer. To see information what printed on both computers need add one more computer. For management can use EZ Lab, EZ System Manager,or EZ Order Monitor. Net Order connection module is to connect older models ( QSS32 - QSS35 not PLUS ) . QSS3501 PLUS and later do not need it. Noritsu has HotFolder software. If to install it and drop files they will be printed automatically. You can create many folders ( 15x10 Glossy, 20x30 Matte, etc ) . Your computer has dongle. It is virtual ( not USB ) . Dongle is to start Ez controller software. Software works the same when you have USB dongle, or virtual dongle.
Dave S Posted June 16 Report Posted June 16 It sounds like what you need is a kiosk. Something like https://fiteng.net/en/diland-kiosk-software.aspx Noritsu used to make Front end Software for QSS Z024203-01 Software that allows the customer to save image data into other media using an external PC, transfer the image data to the EZ Controller through the network, and request the EZ Controller to make prints. I'm not sure how old this software is and what support it has for later versions of Windows. Noritsu only seem to support EZ Controller software now.
