Hi ya all!

I have got a 135/240AFC-II carrier with persistent sensor 3 and 4 error:

6415-0002

6414-0002 or 6414-0005

Sensor Sensitivity Adjustment passes successfully.

Sensor LED Light Intensity Value Adjustment fails when it starts: The DX Auto Adjustment.

DX Sensor Standard Adjustment fails and gives above errors.

Input list checked and looks like all sensors give dark/light messages correctly.

Any idea how to fix this (but not sending around the world to be fixed)?

Thanks!

DX circuit doesn't work. Need to repair it. No other solutions.

135/240AFC-II is complicated. You need give it to someone, who can repair it. I have self made equipment to repair and test sensors on workbench. Then can see what is wrong, do not need scanner and can repair film carriers when they are disassembled.

Thank you, but I want to try fixing it myself. I’m learning how it works and testing it step by step. It’s 3 and 4 so it’s narrowed to two sensors.

Enter the service mode, then go to film carrier unit adjustment. Take a photo of the screen with all the sensor values.

The standard sensor calibration menu calibrates all the sensors other than the DX sensors, this is why it completed normally.

Try setting the 135 DX Sensor 3 & 4 gain values to 255, then try doing the LED light intensity value adjustment.

Please note, doing this will only ever be a temporary fix, the next time it will just give the remove 135 film error and there will be nothing you will be able to do to correct it anymore, so consider getting it properly repaired before it completely fails leaving you stuck.

Thanks Dave, but changing it to max value 255 doesn’t fix the issue. I’ll trace the error step by step to find the cause.

Great. So what was the cause of the problem?

Was fine for a moment. Back to error “remove film from the carrier” nonsense. Seriously Noritsu scanners are the most annoying piece of s***.

So far it’s working. Time to do a fresh focus adjustment.

Ha Ha, these carriers are difficult to repair. These scanners are 20+ years old now, so things do wear out over that time, nothing works forever!!

Finally I managed to get it work. Time to do focusing checks etc. Lot of fun ahead 😉
