Wizwyrd Posted July 24 Report Posted July 24 Hi all. I’m recently coming into the responsibility of this printer. I have been told that it prints slightly green, so our photos need to be edited slightly purple to counteract the issue. I’d like to figure out the problem, and come humbly seeking the knowledge of ye fellow printomancers. Anyways, the AOM and lasers have recently been replaced, and the filters are maintained. What I believe the issue could be is within either some cooling issue within the printer, or some issue with the chemistry. Perhaps it needs manual calibration as well. We use fujifilm paper, as well as their RE-4 three part chems. We mix: ≈40L water + 20L P2-A + 20L P2-B + 8L P2-C. Does the solution need to be mixed with water at a temperature of 35°C (≈95°F)? Or does the printer’s capability to bring the solution to temperature suffice, therefore making it acceptable to use room temp water while mixing? Forgive me for my newbie knowledge I am still learning. Thank you for all the help
alexvigor Posted July 25 Report Posted July 25 (edited) Hi! It doesn't sound like chemicals issue. Make daily setup print, measure it and make a screenshot of measurements. Post it here. Scan and post the DS print itself. Edited July 25 by alexvigor
Dave S Posted July 25 Report Posted July 25 What lighting are you viewing the prints under? LED lights tend to make everything look green. It's best to view the prints outside in daylight, this will give you the true accurate colour rendition.

Glad to hear it’s possibly not a chem issue! I will do so when I can get back into the office. 2 hours ago, Dave S said: What lighting are you viewing the prints under? I actually just ordered new lights for the entire print lab that are 5000K and 95+CRI because another lab tech brought to my attention that the monitors are not properly calibrated.

alexvigor Posted July 27 Report Posted July 27 (edited) Which fujifilm paper do you use? Which profile number is used for paper type setup (initial setup/paper specification registration setup)? If it's common crystal archive - Dmax values are way too high, which usually means calibration plate is bad. Also, it's time to change that crt eizo monitor. It's pointless to expect any color corrections accuracy with it. Edited July 27 by alexvigor

Profile is a custom crystal archive I believe. I have been informed that it in fact is the incorrect setup profile that is being used. Also, the CRT itself isn’t used to edit the images. The editing is done on newer, proper monitors and the ready packages are sent to the printer computer. Apologies for the extremely late update. Been swamped with actual shoots and other work.

In that case (dpII), the values seem ok to me. I'm not sure what you mean by saying "custom" profile. In case some corrections were made into the file that contains paper profile data used for paper type setup (I once had such experience) - I think that is the next place to look for (if you're still getting color issues)
kodak_service Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Regardless of the computer and monitor you use to prepare files for printing, minilab uses the monitor's profile when printing. If your Monitor Balance setting is poor, it will be reflected in your photos.
Dave S Posted August 5 Report Posted August 5 Simple question, does the monitor of your editing PC match the ouput of the printer? If you print directly from the 32 PC do you get the same results?
