Juan Cru Posted Friday at 02:24 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:24 PM (edited) Hi! i'm having a streaking problem with C41 film when developed with my Noritsu V30. It does not happen to ECN2 AHU film and it only shows up in underexposed film/shots and its almost imperceptible when looking at the negative. I'm using Fuji CN16 MV N1 developer. Did use Fuji N2 bleach but tried changing it to Bellini RA Bleach to see if it fixed it, since I was told by other labs that the problem was in the Fuji bleach, It did not. Also using Fuji N3 as fixer. Had this problem in the past when developing manually in a tank and did fix it with a stop bath, but can't use a stop bath in the Nortisu lol. Any clues appreciated since I don't really know what to do. Edited Friday at 02:25 PM by Juan Cru
alexvigor Posted Friday at 02:44 PM Report Posted Friday at 02:44 PM (edited) Hi. If you develop ecn-2 and c41 films, could this problem be related to the remjet from ecn2 that spoils the c41 films? Edited Friday at 02:44 PM by alexvigor

oliphaz Posted Friday at 03:28 PM Report Posted Friday at 03:28 PM An ECN-2 roll with remjet going through C-41 has much more catastrophic repercussions. AHU is a C-41 safe remjet alternative. My guess would be a squeegee roller issue (coming out of the CD) not shedding enough developer before bleach, or poor agitation/circulation in the developer. Check that the spray bar for the CD is working and holes are free of debris. Do you run control strips? I'd only start looking at chemistry if you're outside of control.

Circulation seems fine too. How can I check the spray bar? Don't really know where and what it is haha. No control strips! Impossible to get them in Argentina
Balázsovics Posted Friday at 04:39 PM Report Posted Friday at 04:39 PM I would also take a look at the CD shower screen, the two rods with holes in the front of the first tank, it's only job is to make sure the film gets fresh developer so that the emulsion gets evenly coated and streaks don't happen. It may also be a roller somewhere, maybe an under replenished bleach?

This happened since the first roll using the 2 different bleaches so it can't be under replenished bleach.

Balázsovics Posted Saturday at 04:06 PM Report Posted Saturday at 04:06 PM And you washed the tank out really good? If so than shower or a roller somewhere, might be that that the inlet rollers are getting wet somehow and causing some streaks

Yeah.. weird because I did had this problem when developing by hand and using stop bath fixed it. So I believe its something between developer and bleach.
Balázsovics Posted Monday at 05:16 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:16 PM Well the thing between developer and bleach is stop bath, which you should not use, since bleach is a stop bath, that's part of the reason it's acidic, and stop bath should never be used between any other steps, only after developer. So stop bath should not be near an auto processor, since it already has one, and with hand processing you don't really need one, like i said bleach is a stop bath. Did you ever process any remjet ECN-2 films, or "souped films" ?

So Fuji CN16MV Bleach isnt working as good as a stop bath. Anyways, changing it didn't fix it so It may be something to do with the cn16mv developer. No, I didn't process remjet or souped film and this happened since the first rolls I ran through the V30 with fresh cn16mv chemistry. Streaks dont look as if they come from rollers or something like that... but maybe, i don't know. Running out of ideas. Did check circulation and its working good.
